I noticed a wolf spider sitting atop a floating plastic water jug while filling the old bath tub we use to collect rainwater from the roof of the greenhouse. He/She wasn’t there when I began; I think she was flushed out of the water hose when I turned it on to fill the tub. While exploring the edges of his plastic island the container tipped slightly dumping him into the water. He curled up into a tight ball. When I put the hose underneath him he grabbed hold and I pulled him out of the tub. I left him sitting on the hose on the edge of the tub and went to get the camera in the house…and voila…pictures of Wolf Spider. Now that I think about it...I realize a wolf spider wouldn’t have drowned. I’ve seen them emerge from drains, washed them down only to watch them emerge again later.
Just as I finished taking my spider pictures Court called telling me to come look at the big wolf spider who’d taken up residence in the compost bin. Always a wonder who'll turn up looking for attention on any given day in a garden...

Hi Anne,
love the pic of Grand Lord Yew! Yew trees are said be where the spirits of the "dead" go. Here, in numerous country churchyards, these magnificent trees stand testament to the rich folklore of our islands. We have a place locally where there are yew trees thousands of years old; they form a natural tunnel that attract many visitors. Nope, have not yet visited, but have seen it on local tv. Pan/The Green Man also comes to mind when I see G.L.Y.
Your wolf spider pic is Fab, nice colouring with him/her.
Miles of smiles,
Friend,John
Trees (especially old growth)are as you know, natural conduits of pure, creative, Shakti Power!

Hi John,
I didn't know that yew trees were found in cemeteries in the old country, though I knew it was revered. Yew wood is also supposed to have an ingredient that is being used in cancer treatments.
And yes...I have some idea about the energy you feel in an old growth forest...Shakti power sounds perfect to fit the other worldly feel of a stand of old growth.
I'm enjoying the increased light of this almost summer season...it's light until 9:00 pm...will be light until 10:00 in a couple more weeks. I've almost got the vegetable patch planted out...just a few details left. It feels awesome to have accomplished all we did in the garden this year.
I pray all is warm and cozy around your family hearth...
Blessed be,
Anne
Your wolf spider looks so cute:) The ones around here are much larger or at least I think they are as the one in your picture appears to be smaller in size:)
Love,
