Long Beach, via Tofino on Vancouver, Island

This is not the Holy Toledo. I took this picture of an unknown rider with his...cat from a moving truck in the city of Vancouver. It was one of those perfect photographic moments...like catching a big fish for a fisherman, that I caught thanks to the quick wits and good driving of a dear, long dead now friend. The cat is encased in a leather carrying case that had obviously been custom made, complete with a tail. As we pulled along side the bike I called the cat, who turned to look as I took the picture.

We've put off doing this trip as long as we can. It is time to travel before the tourists hit the roads in July and the weather gets too hot to leave the gardens for a week. We're combining a mini holiday to the Pacific with a shopping expedition to find a scooter for me. (Court rides a Triumph) Toledo is coming and this photo came to mind when I was looking for a picture to go with this post.

Hi Anne,

this reminds me of our 2 cats Major and Nicky who were inseparable.

Nicky used to want to follow me home but i shooed her as there are busy roads round here and they drive like maniacs.

nice to be able to take your cat along on your hols, and looking at that pet cat perched on a motorbike in Vancouver makes me wish our cats were here again.
Boy, do i miss them so. Knowing they are in a better place... helps.

Love--John

Dear Anne and Tommy,

went to the cinema yesterday to watch Bridge to Terabithia; i've not cried that much in a long time.

The moral of the movie for me is to believe/explore the magical worlds, to nurture a childlike imagination and combine it with a grown up sense of purpose and direction that's in harmony with the natural world/universe.

i loved the wonder and poignancy of it.

Smiles and Love,
John
