Dear Vessels of Peace Community,

Welcome again, on this auspicious new moon, which is additionally energized by the solar eclipse today. Every new moon is about birthing, a time for planning and seeding your intentions. The dark side of the moon offers a nurturing environment where our intentions can establish roots before beginning to sprout. If you don't have a list of intentions for your life, you can make one now, and as each new moon comes around, you can modify and re-dedicate them.

This fits in beautifully with our intention this month to honor our inner stillness. Sige provides a nurturing environment to look at our intentions, so please enjoy the short Sige meditation below.

We are continuing to expand our coverage of other women's groups that may interest you, offering new ways for you to connect with other women in your work, so please peruse that section called “What Else is Happening in the World of Women?” We are weaving our web of love and peace as we connect around the world. Sige is the Goddess without words for She was here before words. She is the silence that was here before the Beginning. Sige is like the inside of the cocoon wherein lie all the mysteries of the butterfly. Allow yourself to go into that space -- the space between the stars and the planets -- the place that opens itself to movement. She is The Holding -- The Vessel. She is Inner Peace. Allow Sige's blessing to soak into your heart:


"May you be still, and know that you are Divine."**

WHY ARE WE ENGAGED IN THE WORK OF MEDITATION?

The Core Circle and Anne Cressy (meditation facilitator) recently explored why we engage in our Sunday night Prayer Shawl Weaving meditations, and it feels important to share these insights with you.

Some key words and phrases that came forth from our hearts were: Service ... privilege … commitment … collective practice … subtle activism … the power of the circle to cause transformation … making a difference … how the "small" impacts the destiny of this earth … guardians of peace consciousness … power and beauty … a sense of love and peace.

Each of these words and phrases could be explored in depth and we may do that in future issues, but for now I’d like to share these thoughts: -- Sige asks us to engage in silence, stillness and inner peace. -- As Vessels of Peace we are engaged in service to “humanity, divinity and the earth.” -- Engaging in ANYTHING is how we become effective. This engagement can be subtle (like meditation) or active (like doing something actively in the community). -- Engaging with a circle of women is a powerful way to transform the world.

SHARING FROM A RECENT MEDITATION EXPERIENCE.....by Oia


I was clearly guided to carry the Darshan of Peace to Hawaii, where I encountered Grandmother Spider, a large black and yellow presence, in the center of a sparkling new web which had caught many droplets of dew looking like so many diamonds attached to the webbing. She spoke these words to me: "Weave anew. Weave EMPOWERMENT for all creation. Trust the wisdom of the old ways; trust the pure golden light of the new."

I came out of the meditation reflecting on these words from the Buddhist Prayer for Peace: May the frightened cease to be afraid, and may those bound be free. May the powerless find power, and may people think of befriending one another.

“As I imaged the shawl of empowerment floating into place over my head, the tears of grief that this has taken so long and joy that I have arrived started slowly trickling in. Along with this paradoxical set of emotions washing over me came the voice of my guide Grandmother Spider telling me she’s been waiting for my permission…and she wrapped me in an eight legged hug. I am enfolded in Her love and grinning ear to ear. When Sharon began singing the Grandmothers’ love for me, their promise to always be there rang sweet and strong through her words.
